THE THRONE OF GOD

by Leslie Morley

What if the throne of God is not a place beneath which we bow, but a place within which we belong?

Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother sit together—equal, united, and rejoicing in Their children. Here, divine majesty is revealed not in kingship, dominion, or crowns of gold, but in the radiant power of parental love.

Their glory is us—not because we have earned a place beside Them, but because we are Theirs.

Artist Statement

What if the throne of God is not a place beneath which we bow, but a place within which we belong?

Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother sit together—equal, united, and rejoicing in Their children. There is no distance here. No cold seat of sovereignty. No God looking down from unreachable heights.

Instead, we are drawn near.

We are gathered into Their arms, welcomed onto Their laps, held at the very center of Their joy. We are not merely subjects in Their kingdom. We are Their children—cherished, delighted in, fully known, and deeply loved.

If They are our Heavenly Parents, then Their throne is our heavenly home.

Here, divine majesty is revealed not in kingship, dominion, or crowns of gold, but in the radiant power of parental love—the very power of divine love. Their glory is not found in how far They reign above us, but in how tenderly They draw us close.

Their glory is us—not because we have earned a place beside Them, but because we are Theirs.

And in Their embrace, we begin to discover our own divine inheritance. We begin to understand that our coronation into glory comes not through holding power over others, but through holding divine love for them.

This is the throne of God—Heavenly Father and Heavenly Mother, surrounded by the glory of Their children. The divine family made whole. Heaven bursting with celestial love.

The place where we are held.

The place where we belong.

The place where, at last, we know that we are home.

THE STORY BEHIND THE PAINTING

The idea for The Throne of God began with an image that unsettled me deeply.

In a place I hold sacred within my faith tradition, I saw a depiction of Heavenly Father rising from His throne and descending golden steps to speak with Adam. He was alone. His throne was hard and rigid, surrounded by cold, gleaming gold. As I watched, I felt an almost physical ache. I wondered what this image communicated about God, about our relationship with Him, and about who was missing.

That feeling was difficult to sit with, especially in a setting I revered. Yet I felt the Spirit prick my heart—an invitation to prayerfully explore how I might depict my own testimony of the throne of God.

As I began imagining it, one thing felt clear: Heavenly Mother and Heavenly Father would be together, seated as equals. Their throne would be shared. It would be warm and inviting—a place where Their children would feel at home.

Then came the idea that moved me most deeply: what if the place we belonged was on Their very laps?

That image came with such force that I knew I had to paint it.

Painting The Throne of God became a sacred experience for me. I wanted to show the delight our Heavenly Parents take in us: the way They cherish us, want us near, and rejoice in our very being. I wanted Their love to have a physical tenderness—the closeness of an embrace, children gathered onto Their laps, little feet being tickled, and Parents delighted by the laughter that followed.

As I painted, I found myself dwelling on what it means to be Their child—to be welcomed close enough to rest against Them, to laugh with Them, and to feel Their arms around us.

This painting is my testimony of that love. My prayer is that those who see it will feel something of the belonging I felt while creating it: that we are cherished, that our Heavenly Parents delight in us, and that They want us near.

If They are our Heavenly Parents, then Their throne is our heavenly home.
